The above Thermogram is of an Overheating Pillow Block Bearing. This bearing is part of the main driving system of a high speed printing press.
The reason for the overheating was due to an overtension of the driving belt from the motor, which in turn was causing a gross misalignment condition.
From these findings, we were able to save the client lots of money by identifying the root cause of the problem which saved the bearings, motor, print press and of course the morning paper.
